Heat 2 cups of water in a pan and add asafoetida in it.
Cut paneer into cubes and soak them in warm asafoetida water for 10 minutes. Drain the water and keep paneer cubes aside.
Heat oil in a pan.
Add cumin seeds in pan and fry until they start crackling.
Add chopped onion and fry until it turns pink in color.
Add coriander poder, garam masala, turmeric powder. Keep frying on low flames for 30 seconds.
Add tomato and ginger paste. Add salt and keep stirring. Cook it until the onion tomato mix starts leaving the oil.
Now add shimla mirch pieces and cook covered till it is half cooked.
Add cubed paneer and cook further till the shimla mirch is done.
Paneer Shimla Mirch Sabzi is ready.
Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot with chapati or paratha.
