Rava Uttapam Recipe

Rava Uttapam, a quick and healthy south indian breakfast. Just like rava idli, it needs not much preparation. Rava Uttapam and Rava Idli are quite simple and instant versions of Uttapam and idli as compared to Rice and Dal mix idli and uttapam.

To prepare Rava Uttapam batter, no need to even roast the sooji. We can just mix all the batter ingredients. This batter needs to be a thin as compared to the idli and a little thick then the dosa batter. The btter should be that it does not spread too much on tawa. It need to be of medium consistency.

Veggies are the important part of uttapam. A lot of onion and green chili makes the uttapam very delicious. e can add tomato, chopped coriander leaves, capsicum, carrot and few more veggies to make uttapam. Here is the complete recipe to prepare Rava Uttapam.

Ingredients for Rava Uttapam

  • Rava (Semolina) : 1/2 cup
  • Beaten Curd / yogurt : 1 /2 cup
  • Onion : 1 (finely chopped)
  • Chopped Green Chili : 2
  • Salt to taste
  • Baking Powder : 1/4 tsp
  • Ginger : 1/2 inch
  • Chopped Coriander Leaves : 1/2 cup
  • Oil : to fry rava uttapam
  • How to make Rava Uttapam

    Make a batter of rava and curd and keep that aside for 10 - 15 minutes. Check the consistency, it should be easily pouring. If not, add water to it. Add salt to it as well. Add baking powder.

    In a different bowl, mix chopped onion, green Chilies, coriander leaves and chopped ginger.

    Now take a flat tawa or dosa tawa and heat it. Sprinkle some oil on it. Put a ladle full of batter on tha tawa and spread it. Keep the uttapam thick. Spread a handfull of the chopped vegetable mix on top.

    Flip it when the bottom side is done. When it is cooked from both the side, take it from tawa and clean the tawa with lemon juice. Repeat the process for rest of the batter. Rava Uttapam is ready.

    Rava Uttapam is redy. Serve it hot with chutney.
