Sev Tameta nu Shaak / Sev Tamatar Sabzi Recipe

Gujarati Sev Tameta nu Shaak is a very common and very popular regional dish. It is a very simple and easy to do as well. Just like a plain tomato curry, sev tameta nu shaak is prepared. What makes it spicial, the addition of Sev in it. These saves are the besan saves which are also used as snack and also served as sev puri.

Though the recipe name is Sev Tamatar, but sev are not used while cooking , but it is added to garnish the tametar sabzi. Here is the complete recipe of Sev Tameta nu Shaak or Sev Tamatar sabzi.

Ingredients for Sev Tamatar

  • Tomato : 2- 3
  • Sev : 1/4 cup
  • Onion : 1 medium (chopped finely)
  • Mustard Seeds : 1 tsp
  • Ginger Garlic Paste : 1 tsp
  • Green Chili : 2 (finely chopped)
  • Sugar : 1 tsp
  • Turmeric Powder : 1/4 tsp
  • Coriander Powder : 1/2 tsp
  • Garam Masala : 1/2 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil : 1 tbsp
  • How to make Sev Tameta nu Shaak

    Heat oil in kadahi. Add mustard seeds when the oil is hot. Allow the seeds to splutter. Add chopped onion, fry onion till it turns light brown in color.

    Now add dry spices turmeric powder and coriander powder. Cook for a while. Add ginger garlic paste now. Cook till the raw smell of ginger garlic paste is gone. Add chopped green chili and chopped tomato in it. Add salt as well now.

    Cook tomato till they are mushy. Add 1/2 cup water in kadahi and cover the pan to cook the tomato in steam for 2 - 3 minutes.

    Now add garam masala. Now turn the flames off. Add besan sev in it and cover the pan. Sev Tameta nu shaak is ready. Serve it hot.
